IOTIQ at DMEXCO 2019
DMEXCO is the largest congress fair for the digital industry in Europe. With this reputation it is the annual meeting place for all important decision makers from the digital business, marketing and innovation.
We at IOTIQ GmbH are committed to keeping our focus on digital trends in order not only to keep up with the times, but also to help shape the future. With this attitude in mind, we travelled to Cologne on 11 and 12 September to further our education, to get inspired and to make contacts.
And was it worth it?
DMEXCO consists of two main parts: the expo and the conference. Around 1000 exhibitors presented their technologies for a digital future at the Expo. Global players such as Google and Facebook were naturally present. Much more interesting for us, however, were the exhibitors who, like us, move in the IoT world. Numerous discussions, interesting ideas and visions arose at the booths of, among others, Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, IOX GmbH or Nokia Solutions and Networks. This was achieved above all because of the impressive atmosphere of the Future Park.A total of 550 industry experts provided insights into their business at the conference. These included Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia, Ashley Yuki, Product Management Director of Instagram and Ben Francis, CEO of Gymshark. The most exciting presentations from our point of view were:
- Digital Trends at the Crossroad of Media, Creativity, and Technology
- Smart City – Digitale Innovation für unsere Städte
- Plattformökonomie: Wie Plattformen alle Branchen verändern.
Were the presentations extraordinary? Unfortunately not. Did they still pay off? Yes, definitely. You have to consider in advance what you expect from the presentations and the context in which they will take place. Of course, Google will not reveal the secret formula of its business strategy. Nevertheless, there were a few interesting insights. What was lacking in content in some places was externally replaced by a great stage design. The attention to detail was particularly convincing. Each stage was individually and uniquely designed.
After countless kilometres covered and a dry mouth due to the many conversations, we not only returned to Leipzig richer in business cards. We gained new ideas, made exciting business contacts and created even more motivation for the future.
It remains exciting to see which promising projects will result for us. Until then there is only one thing to say: Until next year DMEXCO!
